About
James Benjamin “Ben” Crouch is a cellist, conductor, writer, and advocate for the minimalist usage of technology. He is from Louisville, Kentucky. He founded the Kentucky Chamber Orchestra in 2017 (then known as the Kentuckiana Philharmonic Orchestra), and formerly served as the orchestra’s executive director for its first three fiscal years and music director for its first two seasons. For three years, Crouch worked as a private cello instructor in Oxford, OH at Oxford Music Academy. He is now a cello instructor and freelance cellist serving the Louisville, KY area.
As a person with severe ADHD, Mr. Crouch enjoys exploring ways to limit his technology usage in the 21st century as a way to help improve focus and attention span and improve overall mental health – things he believes have been hindered by the saturation of technology in the digital age. He is passionate about making the arts accessible to every demographic by expanding access to the arts in under-served communities, promoting ethical animal breeding practices and prioritizing adoption of animals in need, promoting open and candid mental health discussion, and facilitating a healthier relationship with technology as a means to improve quality of life.
